The Discaya couple are set to attend the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing and ready to settle their taxes on luxury cars.
Pacifico “Curlee” II Discaya and his wife Sarah Discaya, known for being major players in several flood control projects, are set to attend the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on September 8, 2025.
Their lawyer, Atty. Cornelio Jun Samaniego III, confirmed that both of them will be present during the session, stating that the couple is prepared to face the inquiry.
The Discayas also expressed their willingness to pay any unpaid import duties and taxes on their 28 luxury cars currently held by the Bureau of Customs. According to their legal counsel, all vehicles were purchased from local car dealers, and the couple is ready to settle any tax deficiencies if required.
He added that they are not evading their obligations and want to resolve the matter properly.
This development comes after reports revealed that the Discaya family’s companies and joint ventures secured 421 out of 9,855 flood control projects awarded by the Marcos administration from 2022 to 2025.
It raised concerns about possible irregularities in project bidding and contract awarding.
Authorities have since canceled the licenses of nine companies linked to the Discayas. This came after Sarah Discaya admitted that their companies would join bids simultaneously for the same projects to increase their chances of winning regardless of the outcome.
The upcoming Senate hearing is expected to clarify the couple’s business dealings, the bidding practices involved, and the legality of their luxury car acquisitions. Their attendance is seen as an important step toward addressing the allegations and clarifying their side of the story.
