CCTV Captures 2 Teenagers Attempting to Steal Power Cables in Tondo, Manila

Two teenagers were caught on CCTV while attempting to steal power cables from a streetlight in Tondo, Manila.

Theft happens when someone takes another person’s belongings without permission and with no plan of giving them back. Unlike robbery, it usually does not involve force, threats, or direct confrontation.

Theft is about secretly taking something that does not belong to you, while robbery involves taking something by using threats or violence.

On Saturday (August 23, 2025), a pair of teenagers tried to steal power cables from a streetlight in Barangay 166, Zone 15, District 2, Tondo, Manila.

In the video, one of the teens acted as a lookout while the other climbed on top of a parked car and managed to cut the cable connected to the streetlight. Their act was interrupted when a resident noticed what they were doing.

The two immediately ran off, leaving the scene before they could take the cable with them.

Barangay officials shared that the same teenagers had already been caught in past incidents. Wanting to warn the community, Barangay Chairman Teresa Robles decided to post the CCTV footage on social media.

The video reminds not only the residents but also the nearby barangays to be alert against similar thefts.

These robbery attempts can happen at any time of the day, barangay officials deployed watchmen to regularly patrol the streets and narrow alleys often targeted by thieves. Residents were also advised to immediately report any suspicious activity so that quick action could be taken.
