DSWD Reminds Public Not to Use Cash Aid for Gambling

DSWD Says Cash Aid Should Not Be Used for Gambling

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reminded the public not to use cash aid for gambling.

Recently, the agency has once again reminded the public to use government cash assistance wisely, stressing that it should never be spent on gambling.

According to the agency, beneficiaries who are caught using the financial aid for any form of gambling may be removed from the program and disqualified from receiving future assistance. The DSWD emphasized that the money is meant to provide relief and support for daily needs, not for risky activities that could worsen the struggles of families already facing hardship.

The agency also called on the public to be responsible in handling the aid they receive. For many low-income households, the assistance is a lifeline that helps cover food, transportation, medicine, and other basic needs.

Misusing it for gambling not only puts the family at risk but also wastes resources that are meant to uplift lives.

The DSWD further explained that cash aid programs are created to ensure that the most vulnerable sectors of society such as poor families, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities can get immediate help during times of need.

With limited funds available, it is important that every peso goes to where it is truly needed.

The reminder was made as the agency continues to monitor how assistance is being used by beneficiaries. The DSWD also encourages communities to help spread awareness and guide others to handle financial support more responsibly.
