Vice Ganda had this message to the LGBTQIA+ community
Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda shared his statement for the Pride Month celebration last Saturday, and this somehow garnered the assumption that it was connected to what Ricky Reyes and Renee Salud said in an interview.
Ricky has been known as one of the popular hairdressers in the Philippines, especially in the 80s and the 90s, while Renee found success in the world of fashion and has been the go-to designer of many celebrities and prominent people in the country.
The two gay icons guested on Toni Talks, the YouTube talk show of Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga. In the interview, Ricky and Renee were asked about their opinions regarding the SOGIE Bill and same-s=x marriage.

They did not agree with these two things that many members of the LGBTQIA+ community have been advocating for. For them, marriage is just for men and women.
Regarding the SOGIE Bill, Ricky said, “Ako rin ang nagpatigil ng SOGIE Bill. Nung sinabi ko, maski anong gawin niyo sa mga bakla, bakla pa rin yan. Gilingin mo man yan, ang labas niyan, baklang hamburger, walang pagbabago.”
For Renee, there is nothing wrong with giving rights to the gays and the spaces they need in society. However, for the fashion designer, some members of the community are asking for too much, to the point of becoming “entitled.”
“Tama na yung tino-tolerate ang mga bading. That is more than acceptance. Yan ang sinasabi ko, toleration is more than acceptance,” Ricky added.
During the LoveLaban event in Diliman last Saturday, June 28, 2025, Vice Ganda shared his message to everyone in their community, based on the article in PEP. He encouraged everyone to be seen and heard because their number means power.

“At ang bilang na ito ay magdidikta ng kapangyarihan. At yung kapangyarihan na yun ay pag-aari natin. Kaya angkinin ninyo ang kapangyarihan ng bilang nating lahat,” the It’s Showtime host said.
Then, Vice Ganda pointed out that age and wealth should not be the reasons why a member of the LGBTQIA+ community should turn their back on their fellow members, just because of the privilege they are getting now, which is not the case with others.
“Hindi porke’t matanda ka na at may pera ka na ay iiwanan mo yung mga tulad mo na hindi nakakakuha ng pribilehiyong nakukuha mo. Dahil ang pribilehiyo ngayon ay hindi dapat maging pribilehiyo mo lang— dapat maging karapatan yan ng bawat isa,” Vice Ganda stressed.
With this, PEP entertainment writer Gorgy Rula asked, “Sina Ricky at Renee kaya itong tinutumbok ni Vice?”
