Php 1,260.00 from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 to Terminal 2? A taxi driver has recently gone viral after a passenger recorded the moment when she was charged for over a thousand after a short ride from the NAIA Terminal 3 to NAIA Terminal 2.

With this incident being huge online, Transportation Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Dizon said that he has already ordered the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to revoke the registration of both the driver and the franchise of the operator.

A revoked driver’s license is the penalty given to those who commit driving violations. According to LTO, a revoked non-professional driver’s license (NPDL) means that the holder will be disqualified from being granted a license for two years from the date of the revocation.

Meanwhile, a revoked professional driver’s license (PDL) means that the holder is “perpetually disqualified from getting another license.”

“Talagang galit na galit ako nung nakita ko. Motu proprio, pinapadalhan ko ng show cause order ‘yan, pero sinabihan ko na ‘yung LTFRB at LTO — i-revoke na ‘yan pareho, lisensya ng driver tsaka ‘yung prangkisa ng operator,” Dizon expressed according to a report from GMA.

He slammed the incident and reminded the drivers not to abuse and overcharge passengers. Apart from the revocation of his license, he will also face suspension.

Previously, a male passenger in Davao City also aired his frustration over the same reason: the overcharging of a taxi. The post quickly circulated online as well, and the passenger also expressed how sad it is for others to assume that returning overseas passengers are loaded with cash.
