Results of OCTA Survey “Reflect Strong Public Support for Accountability”
OCTA SURVEY – The result of the survey showed that 78% of Filipinos want Vice President Sara Duterte to face the impeachment trial.
The impeachment process against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was rescheduled. From the initial schedule of June 2, the presentation of the articles of impeachment by the House of Representatives’ prosecution team was moved to June 11.

According to Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero, the upper chamber and the House still have several measures to pass before the 19th Congress adjourns. He stressed that the key measures are in line with the Marcos’ administration’s pursuit to align the government to the demands of the people.
Escudero also stressed that the Commission on Appointments still have many pending presidential appointments to review. According to Duterte, the delay in the impeachment process allegedly has no impact to her and she will let her lawyers handle it.

The changes in the schedule of the impeachment process against Duterte sparked a speculation that there will be no trial against the Vice President. On the possibility that there will be no impeachment trial against Duterte, Escudero stressed that the decision of the “Senate Plenary is supreme”.

Several senators reacted to the postponement of the impeachment process against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Sen. Koko Pimentel said he will ask Escudero about his decision. As for Duterte ally and reelected Sen. Bato dela Rosa, he pushed for the dropping of the trial against the Vice President.
Sen. Bato dela Rosa previously expressed his confidence that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will be acquitted from the impeachment trial. According to him, they allegedly have the numbers as non-allies turn to their side.

Amid the issue that gathers different reactions from the people, an OCTA survey was conducted. It involved participants from the National Capital Region (NCR), Visayas, and Mindanao.
Based on a report on GMA News, the OCTA survey found that 78% of the Filipinos wants Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to face the impeachment trial. The public opinion-polling body stressed that the findings showed a strong support for accountability.
“These findings reflect strong public support for accountability and due process in addressing the allegations against the Vice President,” the OCTA said.
Based on the report, the findings of the OCTA survey showed that only 13% of Pinoys disagree with the pushing through of the impeachment trial against Duterte. The other 9% is composed of Filipinos who do not have an answer to the issue.
Previously, the Senate President claimed that no one is favored on the delay of the impeachment process against Duterte. However, when Sen. Risa Hontiveros talked about the impeachment trial against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero turned his back.
