PAGASA Says ITCZ to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that ITCZ will bring rains over Visayas and Mindanao.

On Monday (May 26, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The ITCZ and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan are being affected by an Intertropical Convergence Zone and will have scattered rains.

The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms Zamboanga Peninsula, Negros Island Region, Western Visayas, and Palawan.

“There is still a high chance of cloudy skies with rain, especially in the northern part of Palawan,” Badrina said.

The Intertropical Convergence Zone will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Visayas, Mindanao, and Mimaropa.

Similar weather conditions are expected over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon due to the easterlies.

The easterlies will bring hot and humid conditions over the rest of Luzon with possible thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

We can expect that in the coming days or next week, thunderstorms will become more frequent in the afternoon and evening,” he added.

The southwest monsoon or habagat is expected to be felt in parts of the country in the coming days or weeks.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over Extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.

No gale warning was raised over any parts of the country’s seaboard.
