PAGASA Says ITCZ and Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the ITCZ and easterlies will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Saturday (May 24, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Two weather systems will affect the country’s weather conditions.
Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda reported that the Intertropical Convergence Zone will affect Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan, while the easterlies will affect the rest of Luzon.

Castañeda said that hot weather is expected in Luzon due to the easterlies. No low-pressure area or tropical cyclone is being monitored inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.
The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

“We will experience hot weather at noon, and rains, thunder, and lightning are possible in the afternoon and evening due to the easterlies,” Castañeda said.
“Heavy rains are forecast in Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM [Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao], Soccsksargen [South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City], and parts of Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Palawan, and western Visayas,” Castañeda added.
The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern and Central Luzon, as well as the rest of the country, will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
No gale warning was raised over any of the country’s seaboard.
