Bank Robbery Suspect in Taguig Arrested Before Escaping w/ P7M

A bank robbery suspect in Taguig City was arrested by the police authorities before escaping with P7 million loot.

On Monday afternoon, May 5, 2025, a man tried to rob a bank in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig City, but was quickly arrested before he could escape with more than P7 million. The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confirmed the arrest.

According to NCRPO Chief Police Major General Anthony Aberin, the suspect, a 54-year-old man, entered the bank at around 3:36 PM. Since he was a regular client, the security guards didn’t suspect anything unusual and didn’t check his bag.

The culprit was even allowed to use the restroom, which gave him the chance to prepare for the robbery. When he came out, he was wearing a bonnet and holding a gun. He then announced the holdup and warned the bank employees not to make any noise.

“Nakapasok po siya nang di po kinakpakapan ng guwardya. Actually yung baril niya nasa loob ng bag, di na po siya tiningnan. At sa loob medyo nag-standby muna siya ng ilang minuto then nakiusap na gagamit ng CR. Dahil sa kilala po ng mga guwardya, pinayagan siyang gumamit ng CR then paglabas niya po hawak-hawak na niya yung kanyang baril. Naka-bonnet na po siya at nag-declare na po ng holdap,” Aberin said.

Despite the threat, one teller was able to press the alarm button, which alerted the nearest police station.

Police officers quickly responded and arrived at the scene. Although the guards and tellers initially denied that a robbery was happening, the officers noticed that something was off.

The authorities saw the suspect with a gun and decided to go inside. With help from a teller who managed to escape through a back exit, the police entered the bank and wrestled with the suspect until he was subdued.

The suspect is currently in police custody and will face charges for robbery, illegal possession of a firearm, and other possible violations.
