JK Labajo Reflects on the Painful Journey of Searching for His Father
JK LABAJO – Singer-actor JK Labajo looks back on his heartbreaking search for his father, opening up about the emotional pain, rejection, and the bittersweet closure he found after years of longing to connect with the man who left before he was born.
In an emotional interview with Karen Davila, OPM artist JK Labajo opened up about the long-standing emotional burden he has carried—the painful experience of searching for his German father, Oliver Stolz.
Since childhood, JK had always dreamed of meeting his father. However, the journey wasn’t easy, as his mother never shared details about him. With the help of his grandmother, he obtained letters and photos of his parents, which became his guide in the long search.
When he was just ten years old, they tried calling a number in Munich believed to be connected to his father. But after mentioning his mother’s name, the call was never answered again. That disappointment became the first of many hurdles in his quest.
In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, JK found the courage to try again—this time using social media. With the help of a netizen from Pampanga, he was able to gather his father’s contact information and sent a message via WhatsApp. In the message, he calmly introduced himself and shared the painful news that his mother had passed away in 2013.
However, instead of receiving a reply, he was immediately blocked. “A few hours later, it was seen. Little bit after that, I was blocked on WhatsApp,” JK recalled. He described that moment as if his whole world came crashing down.
Though painful, JK accepted the experience as a form of emotional closure. “it was really painful… but at the same time it was kind of a closure,” he said.
Despite everything, JK remains open to the possibility of meeting his father someday. “We never know what could happen, we never really gonna know,” he concluded.
