On March 18, Marjorie Barretto revealed that Dennis Padilla had a lunch date with their children, Julia Barretto, Claudia, and Leon. This was accordingly their first reconnection after years of estrangement. During that time, Claudia, the most distant from their father, informed him that she would be walking down the aisle alone, to which the comedian had agreed.
However, things turned out differently on the day of the wedding. The supposedly private affair of Claudia’s wedding to Basti Lorenzo turned out to be controversial because Padilla aired his hurt after not being given a part in the program. He was deeply hurt when he was not able to walk her down the aisle, which prompted him to cut ties with his children.
Stepping up for their three children, Marjorie granted an interview with Ogie Diaz and clarified a lot of things.
According to her, he seems to accuse her of having a hand in his not being included in the entourage, but prior, he was already told that Claudia would be walking alone. She is also unapologetic when she sat on the side where the parents of the bride should be while he was not, because she raised Claudia single-handedly.
She was the one who encouraged Claudia to invite her father. At one point, it caused friction between the two of them, but eventually, she agreed on the condition that he would not walk her down the aisle and not share wedding details online
Also, he was assigned to sit in the front row with the ninongs, but he chose to sit in the back pew. She did not orchestrate the setup to embarrass him, calling his claims online misleading.
He also caused a scene during the ceremony by pacing, raising his voice, and being confrontational with the wedding staff. The coordinators even had to calm him down and plead with him to take the discussion outside the church.
In the same interview, Marjorie clarified that the coordinators did not cry with him, Claudia did not look for them during the ceremony, his mother was treated well, and Gene Padilla was accordingly not invited.
