Cristine Reyes wrote in the caption of her post, “Rest in peace Shancai, our childhood favorite. Also, Happy 36th to me today.” She posted this on February 5, the day of her birthday.

Barbie, known as Shan Cai as her character in the hit series Meteor Garden, died on February 2. This post that Cristine shared did not sit well with many netizens.

For them, it was inappropriate for her to share a post about someone who died and greeted herself for her birthday. After the criticism she received online, the actress deleted her post and reacted to the bashing.

She said that many people have been dwelling on something that another person’s mistake. “Bawal magkamali nowadays. May kalupitan na kapalit sa mga bagay kapag nagkamali e, di ba?” she wrote in her post as an answer to her bashers.

Then, in a recent Instagram Story that she uploaded, based on the article in Inquirer, Cristine featured her photo with the famous braided hairdo of Shan Cai. The actress was flashing a “peace sign.” She wrote, “Learning the art of ‘walang pakialam sa opinion ng ibang tao.’”

Meanwhile, amid the negative reactions to the supposed birthday post that she had for herself, her boyfriend actor Marco Gumabao poured love over her. The actor shared his birthday greeting for his girlfriend.
