Making light of the situation, the “unseriousness” of Rufa Mae Quinto amused people.
Comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto earned attention because of her arrest but her witty remarks made the situation lighter and amused netizens.
In a previous article, comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) upon her arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from San Francisco. Rufa Mae voluntarily surrendered in relation to her alleged violation of the Securities Regulation Code.
She is facing 14 counts of violation of Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code on top of being controversial because of this. However, the comedienne had her ways to face the matter in a lighter manner. Her “unseriousness” and witty remarks had the people online amused by her.
Upon her arrival at the airport, she expressed:
“Hi, welcome to me in the Philippines! I surrender myself.”
For one, she denied her involvement in a scam related to the skin company and stressed that she was a victim. She decided to come forward and voluntarily surrender and when asked about filing a counter-charge against the people who sued her, Quinto said:
“Pag-iisipan natin, kung may isip pa ako. Tapusin muna natin ito, isa isa lang kasi kadarating ko lang from the US so one by one, step by step.”
After posting bail, she was happy and feeling positive and her statement was:
“Ang sarap, you’re free. The best things in life are free, ‘di ba?”
She also hopes to meet and talk with the complainants to settle the issue and she said:
“Kakausapin ko sila kung gusto nila para makipag-chikahan ng ano ba nangyari, ‘yung mga ganun. Tapos I lawyer myself.”
She added:
“Ngayon, wala tayong dapat ikatakot kasi kung tayo naman ay innocent at walang ginagawang masama, eh justice will prevail. And justice to all mankind because I’m kind.”
Meanwhile, Neri Naig was previously arrested for estafa and violation of SEC regulations. She is facing 14 counts of violation of Section 28 of the Republic Act 8799 or the Securities Regulation Code which states: “No person shall engage in the business of buying or selling securities in the Philippines as a broker or dealer, or act as a salesman, or an associated person of any broker or dealer unless registered as such with the Commission.”
The arrest is similar to Quinto and their connection with DermaCare company was their common denominator.
