PNP Claims Ex-President Duterte Neglected Many Cops in Drug War

Former Pres. Duterte Asserts Taking Full Legal & Moral Responsibility over Drug War, PNP Claims Otherwise

PNP – The Philippine National Police claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte allegedly neglected many cops in the drug war.

The drug war of the Duterte administration is controversial. It is linked to several deaths during the term of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The International Criminal Court (ICC) previously expressed an intent to investigate the anti-drugs campaign’s implementation but the former President took the country out from the Rome Statute.

Currently, both the Senate and the House of Representatives are conducting investigations on the Duterte drug war. The former President appeared at the very first hearing conducted by the upper chamber.

At the House Quad Committee hearing, it was only recently when the former President appeared as a resource person. He snubbed several invitations prior to it. During the inquiry, former Pres. Duterte described the ICC as a “silly court”.

According to Duterte, the International Criminal Court has not imprison African leaders who have allegedly committed crimes. He stressed that he does not believe in the capacity of the white aces and he will not allow foreigners to have him under trial.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte said the ICC must hurry up and go here in the Philippines to investigate him. According to him, he might die without them having to investigate him over his administration’s war on drugs.

At the House Quad Comm hearing, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte said he takes full legal and moral responsibility of his administration’s war on drugs. However, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the claim of the Philippine National Police is contrary to it.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said that many cops in the drug war were neglected by Duterte and they are now facing charges. According to her, the data supports the claim of PNP chief Rommel Francisco Marbil that there are a number of police officers who were affected by the Duterte drug war.

“Karapatan po ng ating dating pangulo sa kaniyang mga pananalita but the records will not lie po,” the PNP Spokesperson said.

According to the report, the records state that 1,214 police officers were affected by the war on drugs and the number includes 195 cops who were dismissed from service, 20 who were jailed, and 214 who are facing charges.

At the House hearing, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte came amid her repetitive absence to the hearings wherein she’s invited as the resource person. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, her father, Rodrigo, is the “best dramatic actor” for his “performance” at the hearing.
