Man in Sta. Rosa, Laguna Killed & Placed in Drum by Friend
A man in Sta. Rosa, Laguna was killed and placed inside a drum by his friend over a P1,000 loan request.
Marciano Cases Jr., a truck driver, was found dead after reportedly asking his longtime friend, Nejimas Tan-Awon Egar, to borrow P1,000. When Egar refused, an argument broke out between them.
The incident was exposed when neighbors in Barangay Kanluran noticed a foul smell coming from Egar’s apartment. When the police arrived, they found Cases’ body in a large drum inside the place. Investigators later confirmed he had been shot in the head and back.
Egar, a tricycle driver, claims that Cases had been persistent about borrowing the money despite his refusal, which led to a heated confrontation. In a moment of anger, Egar admitted he shot Cases.
“Actually mam, kaibigan ko talaga siya. Nagkataon talaga na noong time na ‘yun pumunta siya sa bahay at gusto sana niya humiram ng pera. Eh nagkataon na wala akong pera kakapadala ko lang sa anak ko, exam ng anak ko, wala talaga ako maibigay,” the suspect said.
He then attempted to hide the body, placing it in a drum and transporting it in his tricycle to avoid being found out. Unfortunately for him, police followed up and tracked Egar to Tondo, Manila, where he was arrested after a few days in hiding.
Cases’ family, however, is skeptical of Egar’s story, stating that Cases wasn’t the type to borrow money from friends. This has raised more questions about the real motive behind the crime.
Now facing murder charges, Egar is being held at the Santa Rosa Police Station. Though he has expressed regret, the investigation continues as authorities work to understand what really happened and deliver justice to Cases’ grieving family.
