Kapuso singer Jessica Villarubin has this reaction to the viral church performance of Asia’s Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose.
Julie received criticism after her video singing Dancing Queen inside a Catholic church went viral. Many netizens pointed out that it was inappropriate for her to have that kind of performance in a place of worship while some defended her.
GMA Network took full responsibility for the incident and Julie also issued an apology, as well as the management of the church where she performed.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Jessica Villarubin shared that she was also one of the performers at that event but Julie Anne San Jose was the only one who received the bashing.
Jessica sang the songs This Girl is on Fire and Maybe This Time. She wore a strapless red gown. When asked about this on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Jessica had an amusing reaction.
“Hala, ba’t wala ako? Kasi kaming dalawa po ang nandoon. Na-late po nang pumutok yung sa akin, e. Na-late, na-late yung sa akin, si Ate [Julie Anne] ang nauna. Kasama po ako doon,” she said.
Sharing her thoughts on what happened, Jessica said that both camps issued statements already and lessons were learned from that. “We really apologized po sa nangyari. Sana po, pray for healing for everyone po,” she said, adding that she also has served in the church for 15 years now and that she has been a choir member for 16 years already.
When asked what she learned from what happened to her and Julie Anne San Jose, Jessica Villarubin said that they should thoroughly know first what to do when it comes to this kind of event.
