Store Owner Warns Public About Suspicious Man Targeting Sari-Sari Stores “Mag-ingat po sa tao na ito“
A store owner issued a warning to the public about a man allegedly scamming small neighborhood stores, or sari-sari stores, in their area.
Recently, MJ Legaspi, a Facebook user, shared a photo of the man believed to be targeting stores in Malabon and Valenzuela. The post quickly went viral and elicited reactions from netizens.
According to MJ, the man entered their store pretending to purchase six packs of cigarettes. He showed his wallet and even commented on the reasonable price, suggesting he would come back regularly.
However, MJ’s mother grew suspicious when the man left his motorcycle outside, so they decided not to sell him anything. Later on, they saw a post from a neighboring store owner in a community group, describing how the same man had tricked them.
The nearby store had apparently been fooled when the man asked to cash in through GCash, a local digital payment platform. But as soon as the transaction was about to go through, he quickly got on his motorcycle and sped away, leaving the store owner without payment.
The post reminds other sari-sari store owners in the area to be extra cautious when dealing with unfamiliar customers. Scams like this can easily catch small business owners off guard, especially when the scammer appears to be friendly and trustworthy.
Legaspi encourages everyone to stay vigilant and look out for each other, especially within their community.
