2 Individuals Arrested for Stealing Fish From Local Market in Cebu City

Two individuals were facing charges after being caught on CCTV stealing fish from a local store in Barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City.

On early Monday morning (October 7, 2024), the men were arrested for allegedly stealing around two kilos of fish, as well as a bucket and a bolo, which were used to cut the fish. The illegal acts of the suspects have been captured on CCTV.

Editha Patalinghug, the store owner, expressed her frustration over the repeated thefts from her business. She has been a victim of similar incidents before and has decided to take legal action this time.

Patalinghug is preparing to file formal charges against the two suspects as she was determined to put an end to the thefts.

The two individuals involved in the theft were identified as John Clifford Dugho, also known by his alias “Talong,” aged 27, and Jomar Cañete, aged 42. Both suspects are residents of the same barangay where the store is located.

After the theft was captured on CCTV, barangay tanods managed to track them down and apprehend them. Patalinghug hopes that by pursuing legal action, justice will be served and that similar incidents will be prevented in the future.
