Construction Worker Allegedly Involved in Chicken Theft Found Dead in Sack in Rizal
A construction worker was discovered stuffed inside a sack by the roadside in Sitio Pintorm Rodriguez, Rizal, after stealing chicken.
The authorities found the victim, Jonathan Añonuevo, with his hands and feet bound by wire, and another wire wrapped tightly around his neck.
The victim’s wife, Jennifer Gabriel, shared that Añonuevo had left their home the previous week, saying he was going with a friend to take a chicken from a nearby sitio. However, he never returned.
According to Gabriel, Añonuevo’s friend had invited him to take a chicken, which was located near a bridge. As they retrieved the chicken, someone allegedly shouted “magnanakaw!” accusing Añonuevo of stealing.
His friend reportedly passed the chicken to him and led him towards a subdivision, where a group of people, including members of the homeowners’ association (HOA), chased and eventually beat him.
Three days later, Añonuevo’s lifeless body was discovered. His sister was notified about a dead body found in the area, and when Gabriel saw a picture of her husband stuffed in a sack.
Following a police investigation, three suspects were arrested, including a barangay tanod. According to authorities, Añonuevo was allegedly caught by a subdivision security guard and handed over to the HOA president, who, along with others, reportedly assaulted him until his death.
Col Selencio.
Despite the arrests, the barangay tanod and the other suspects denied any involvement. The police are still pursuing two more suspects who remain at large, as the family of the victim calls for justice.
