PAGASA Says Tropical Depression and ITCZ to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA – The state weather bureau reported that Julian has weakened into a tropical depression, while the ITCZ will bring rains to parts of the country.

On Friday (October 4, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The Intertropical Convergence Zone will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that Julian was last spotted 240 kilometers north northwest of Itbayat, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Julian has been downgraded into a tropical depression as it lashed Taiwan. It will no longer directly affect the country.

“Julian is forecast to weaken into a remnant low today over the landmass of Taiwan or the sea southwest of Taiwan,” Pagasa said.

The tropical depression will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in the Bicol Region, the entire Visayas, and the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.

The ITCZ will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal over any parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over northern and western sections of Northern and Central Luzon will be moderate to rough. Visayas and the rest of Luzon, and Mindanao will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.

“Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels,PAGASA added.
