Paolo Contis Defends ‘Dear Satan’ Against Negative Reactions

Paolo Contis talked about his new movie after the bashing

Kapuso actor Paolo Contis defended his new movie Dear Satan against the negative reactions it received.

Paolo’s movie was criticized for its title and its story. Following the release of its teaser, netizens condemned it and expressed their negative comments on social media. After that, it was reported that the title would be changed.

With the movie’s theme, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) decided the give it an X-rating. MTRCB chair Lala Sotto said that as her faith dictates it, this movie offended her.

In a recent interview with PEP, Paolo Contis stressed that their movie has a good message. He said that this teaches about having a child-like faith.

The actor said that this movie literally shows a child-like faith. In the movie, the child character was supposed to send a letter to Santa but she unintentionally misspelled this to Satan.

Paolo’s “Satan” character received it and he was trying to deceive the child but failed because of her faith. The actor said that this has a good message which was just covered with different issues.

He though that people will able to see the difference between fiction and reality. “Wala naman kaming sinabing sambahin si Satanas eh,” he said.

Paolo also stressed that it was clear in the trailer that he was trying to convince the child to be bad but she was not persuaded by this because her faith was strong.

The actor shared that people might have commented that Satan looks “mabait” in the movie. He stressed that it is because the movie is for kids. Paolo Contis also pointed out that what should be taught is that kids can watch a movie but it should also be the responsibility of the parents to teach them what is right or wrong.
