Senator Gatchalian Says Alice Guo Must Face Serious Charges
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian urges that former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo must face serious charges following her arrest in Indonesia.
The former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor was apprehended in Tangerang City on Wednesday early morning (September 4, 2024). She has been at large after allegedly leaving the Philippines in July.
Her escape involved a mixed route through Malaysia and Singapore before reaching Indonesia, where she was arrested.
Guo is facing multiple charges, including human trafficking, money laundering, and other violations connected to her alleged support for an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in her hometown.
“Dahil nahuli na siya, dapat managot siya sa mga kasong isinampa laban sa kanya kagaya ng human trafficking, money laundering, quo warranto, paglabag sa utos ng Senado at iba pa. Importante na siya mismo ang managot dito sa ating bansa,” Gatchalian said.
Senator Gatchalian emphasizes the importance of Guo answering for these charges in the Philippines. He pointed out that, after being processed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI), Guo should be brought before the Senate, which has an outstanding arrest order against her.
The senator also pointed out the need for Guo to disclose the names of those involved in her criminal activities in Bamban, particularly those who may be assisting her from within the government.
He expressed the urgency of identifying these individuals so that they too can be charged and held accountable.
“Dapat din niyang sabihin kung sino sino ang kanyang mga kasama sa mga criminal activities niya sa Bamban at sino sino ang mga tumutulong sa kanya na na sa gobyerno. Gusto namin ng eksaktong mga pangalan para masampahan din ng kaso ang mga iyon.” He added.
The mayor’s involvement in serious illegal activities and her escape from the Philippines has drawn massive attention from the Filipino people.
