PAGASA Says Habagat and Localized Thunderstorms to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon and the localized thunderstorms will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Thursday (August 8, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon and the localized thunderstorms will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Northern and Central Luzon.

“Patuloy po apekto ng habagat dito sa malaking bahagi ng Northern and Central Luzon at pinaka-uulanin pa rin po itong western section samantalang dito sa Southern Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao, asahan pa rin ang ulan dulot ng localized thunderstorms o yung mga pag-uulan na di naman po nagtatagal,” Estareja said.
A tropical cyclone (Tropical Storm Maria) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was spotted at 2,230 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.
The weather disturbance has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is moving east-northeastward at the speed of 15 kph.

“Yung minomonitor nating bagyo sa labas ng PAR from a tropical depression ay lumakas pa po ito bilang tropical storm at meron ng international name na Maria,” said Estareja.
The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan.
Habagat will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon.
The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over the entire country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
