47-Year-Old Man Earns Admiration Online for Passing LET Board Exam After 33 Attempts
LICENSURE EXAM FOR TEACHERS – A 47-year-old man from Isabela, Negros Occidental passed the LET board exam after 33 attempts.
An aspiring teacher identified as Jorge B. Alejo from Barangay Napaccu Pequeno, Reina Mercedes, Isabela finally passed the March 2024 LET board examinations on his 33rd attempt. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
Alejo shared that he first took the LET in 1999 but only passed in March 2024. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to pass the elementary education board exam, he decided to take additional units in Secondary Education in 2005.
Despite his repeated failures, Jorge remained resilient. He kept telling himself that as long as there is life, there is hope.
By March 2024, Jorge’s co-teachers encouraged him to try the exam once more. His brother even registered him for the test. Jorge prayed for success, fearing that another failure might end his teaching career.
When the results were released, Jorge didn’t check immediately to avoid disappointment. However, he was pleasantly surprised when his co-teachers congratulated him for passing the exam.
Jorge felt happiness upon learning that he had finally become a licensed teacher. He attributed his previous failures to insufficient preparation, as he couldn’t afford to attend review centers. He was financially supporting his siblings’ education, which limited his ability to focus on his studies.
The man volunteered as a teacher at Reina Mercedes National High School without pay. He was later given a five-year provisional period but was eventually let go because he didn’t have a license.
Currently, Jorge works as a non-teaching personnel at Reina Mercedes National High School’s Senior High School Department. He aims to secure a permanent position in the Department of Education now that he has his teaching license.
