Vice Ganda Copied Darryl Yap’s Monologue?

Vice Ganda was defended by his fans against this accusation

Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda had a monologue on It’s Showtime last Saturday and it was compared to director-writer Darryl Yap’s monologue.

Content creator Lolito Go shared clips of Vice’s monologue on the Kapamilya noontime show and the monologue that Darryl shared. The comedian-host had his iconic moment on April 6 on It’s Showtime’s first airing day on GMA.

This also served as a celebration for his birthday. In his monologue, he talked about his journey to success, the difficult times he went through and the determination he possessed to achieve his goals.

However, Lolito Go raised an intriguing topic. He cited the similarities that Vice Ganda’s monologue had to what Darryl Yap posted on his Facebook page in 2020.

With his side-by-side comparison, Lolito could say there was an “unmistakable resemblance.” “Binalasa lang yung mga salita pero almost the same ang thoughts, delivery, pati yung heroic music almost identical,” he wrote.

The content creator, who also had a ghost writer issue with singer-songwriter Moira dela Torre in the past, pointed out that there is a possibility that whoever wrote Vice’s monologue had an idea about Darryl’s monologue. Lolito acknowledges the fact that the celebrity has a lot of showbiz engagements and there is a possibility that he hired a team to help him do the things he needed to do.

Whoever wrote Vice’s monologue can’t convince me na hindi nyo napanood ang monologue ni Darryl Yap na “Buo” na 2020 pa nabuo. Kuhang kuha kasi pati yung pacing, yung theatrics,” the content creator added.

Lolito also said that if a writer wrote this for Vice Ganda, then, auditing should be done because the supposed “copying” might have become a usual thing that writer does. If the comedian-host wrote this, then, Lolito said, “I would assume that [Vice] secretly admires the work of Darryl.”

On the other hand, he is not setting aside the possibility that it was just a “coincidence.” “Nangopya nga ba si Vice kay Darryl? Kung ako ang tatanungin, mahirap ideny yan,” he added.

Before ending the video, Lolito Go had this statement: “Please have originality, nirambol-rambol lang ang words pero ang atake, music at thought gayang-gaya.”

In the comment section of his posts, some netizens agreed with Lolito Go but fans of Vice Ganda slammed him. Here are some comments from netizens who defended the Unkabogable Star.
