Mac Tallo Terminated from Converge Over “Ligang Labas” in Cebu

Converge Terminates Contract of Mac Tallo After Caught in “Ligang Labas” in Cebu

Converge FiberXer terminated the contract of Mac Tallo after being caught playing in “ligang labas” during Sinulog festival in Cebu.

Recently, videos and photos of some PBA players participating in the Sinulog Cup in Cebu City have circulated on social media. Among the notable players spotted were Mac Tallo and Barkley Eboña.

However, Barkley is in the clear as his contract with Converge had recently expired. On the other hand, Tallo faced repercussions as he had signed with Converge just last year and failed to seek permission from management, according to team manager Jacob Lao.

Lao revealed that Tallo receives a monthly salary of P300,000 from Converge, which is higher than that of other PBA players. Despite being sidelined due to injury for a few games, Tallo competed outside the league and even led his team to victory in the Sinulog tournament, earning the finals MVP title.

As a result, the PBA summoned Tallo and fined him P100,000, showing leniency for his first offense, considering the potential total fine of P250,000. Converge FiberXers announced the termination of Tallo’s contract as a reserve guard following his participation in five games during the Cebu tournament without consent from the PBA and his team.

The decision to part ways with the Cebuano guard came after a thorough investigation, according to the Dennis Uy-owned ballclub. Tallo had initially signed a two-year deal worth over P7 million with Converge before the season began, based on the report.

However, the termination of his contract was attributed to ‘several infractions’ committed by the player, as stated by the team. This announcement followed just two days after PBA commissioner Willie Marcial imposed a P100,000 fine on the six-foot guard for violating his UPC contract, which explicitly prohibits players from participating in unsanctioned tournaments without league and team authorization.
