A woman has been arrested for her alleged involvement in assaulting and robbing a Korean national in Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

On Tuesday (January 23, 2024), Fort Bonifacio Police Substation 1 arrested a woman for allegedly assaulting a Korean national. According to the reports, the foreigners were waiting to cross the pedestrian lane when they were suddenly joined and surrounded by a group of thieves.

Fort Bonifacio Police Substation 1 Deputy Commander PCpt. Rizalie Tadeo said that the victim was on the phone when suddenly the male suspect from behind pushed him and the three women surrounding them also pushed him from the front.

“Naghihintay po sila doon sa traffic light na mag-stop para makatawid and si victim natin, may kausap sa cellphone and then, bigla siyang tinulak nung lalaki na suspek galing sa likod tapos ‘yung tatlong babae na pinalibutan sila, tinulak din siya galing sa harapan,” Tadeo said.

The victim lost balance and fell. When he stood up, he noticed his sling bag was missing. The Korean nationals spotted one suspect and followed her to a parking lot, where a commotion ensued. BGC marshals immediately responded and apprehended one of the suspects.

BGC marshal Nhor Sandigan said that they caught up with the suspects in the parking area amid heavy traffic and many people crossing. The victim shared that the suspect bit his hand.

“Kasagsagan ng traffic saka ang daming taong tumatawid. Naabutan po namin sa parking. Sabi ng Koreano, ‘yung kamay niya kinagat daw ng mga suspek,” Sandigan said.

The victims positively identified the suspect who was brought to the police station. The suspect claimed she resorted to the act out of desperation but denied biting the victim.

“Nagawa ko lang ho ‘yun para sa anak ko. ‘Yung kasama ko po baga ang kumagat sa kanya hindi ho ako. Pustiso ho ‘yung ngipin ko,” the suspect defended.

The police revealed that the suspect attempted to settle with the victims for P50,000, but the victims were determined to pursue charges against her.

Authorities issued a warning about this modus operandi, where criminals target pedestrians, take advantage of disorientation, and seize the opportunity to snatch belongings.
