Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Negros Oriental, November 22, 2023

EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.2 magnitude quake in Negros Oriental today, Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Following the 5.6 magnitude earthquake in Samar a few days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Negros Oriental today. It had a magnitude of 4.2.

The earthquake today that struck Negros Oriental, Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 03:28 a.m., was volcano-tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Canlaon City.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Negros Oriental was located at 10.45°North, 123.14°East – 011 km North 49° West of City Of Canlaon. It had a depth of focus of 001 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was felt at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. The quake-recording bureau recorded Instrumental Intensity II in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
