PAGASA Says LPA and Localized Thunderstorms Over Parts of the Country
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a trough of a low-pressure area will bring scattered rains showers over parts of the country.
On Tuesday (October 10, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and localized thunderstorms will affect the country’s weather condition
PAGASA is monitoring active tropical cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. Former Typhoon Jenny was spotted 1,025 kilometers west of extreme Northern Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Bolaven was located 2,385 km east of northeastern Mindanao. It has maximum sustained winds of 120 kph and gustiness up to 150 kph, moving 20 kph in a northwestward direction.
The LPA’s trough will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Central Visayas.
Flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains
The low-pressure area and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, according to Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.

“Dito naman sa Metro Manila at sa nalalabi pang bahagi ng Luzon ay mayroon lamang tayong mararanasan na mga isolated rains showers, Ito ‘yung mga biglaan at panandaliang pag-ulan, pagkidlat, at pagkulog. Dulot ‘yan ng localized thunderstorms,” she said.
Possible flash floods and landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.
The coastal water condition over Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
