On August 28, 2023, an official show cause order (SCO) was issued to Gonzales, demanding an explanation for his actions. The suspect will face reckless driving, obstruction of traffic, and operating a motor vehicle improperly.

However, during the hearing scheduled for August 31, 2023. Unfortunately, Gonzales was conspicuously absent. Instead, his son, acting on his behalf, surrendered his driver’s license as part of a 90-day preventive suspension imposed by the LTO.

On Friday, September 1, 2023, LTO-National Capital Region (NCR) Assistant Regional Director Hanzley Lim announced that charges filed against the car driver in the controversial road rage incident have been submitted for resolution due to the absence of a notarized affidavit.

“Mr. Gonzales did not submit an affidavit so we take it as a waiver on his part for us to decide on the matter based on the pieces of evidence we have,” said Lim.

The maximum penalty that Gonzales could face is the permanent revocation of his driver’s license. Such a penalty would have far-reaching consequences for his ability to drive legally in the future.
