Class Suspensions for Thursday (August 31, 2023) Due to Enhanced Southwest Monsoon
WALANG PASOK – Several local government units declared class suspensions in various parts of the country due to Super Typhoon Goring.
Super Typhoon Goring, along with the enhanced southwest monsoon, wreaked havoc across the nation. The weather disturbance brought strong winds and heavy to incessant rains in some areas, resulting in severe flooding.
The massive flooding has caused devastation in numerous areas and displaced thousands of residents. Flood-affected residents have fled their homes and proceeded to available evacuation centers.
On Wednesday evening (August 30, 2023), Goring left the Philippine Area of Responsibility as Severe Tropical Storm Hanna entered the country’s vicinity.
Hanna was last located 1,225 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 115 kph. It will bring rains over parts of the country.
