BFP Launches Rescue Operation in Flood-Affected Areas in Bacolod City

BFP Conducts Rescue Operation Amid Massive Flooding in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental

Flooding is a natural disaster that has plagued human communities for generations, leaving a trail of devastation and destruction in its wake. Floods have the ability to devastate people, infrastructure, and the environment when they occur as a result of extreme rainfall, storm surges, snowmelt, or the failure of natural or built barriers.

Heavy rainfall, river overflow, storm surges, and human activities are some of the major factors causing floods. Flooding can lead to damage to properties, loss of lives, service interruptions, health risks, and environmental impact.

However, the impact of this natural calamity can be minimized through early warning systems, floodplain management, flood control infrastructure, public awareness, and preparedness.
