In a heartwarming incident at a local mall, netizens were deeply moved by the compassion and generosity shown by a woman named Kristine Taule-Manahan toward a saleslady after an accidental breakage of merchandise.
Kristine shared her experience on social media, narrating how she had purchased a set of glasses from a mall. Seeking assistance, she approached a saleslady to retrieve the glasses she had chosen from the shelf.
Unfortunately, in the process, one of the glasses slipped and shattered, valued at approximately P85.00. The saleslady promptly cleaned up the broken pieces and continued assisting her, but Kristine could sense her unease.
To ease the saleslady’s worry, Kristine offered to pay for the broken glass. The saleslady hesitated, asking if it was genuinely alright to do so. Kristine reassured her that it was, understanding that accidents happen and it shouldn’t burden the saleslady.
Shortly after, the saleslady approached Kristine and handed her a piece of the broken glass, expressing her gratitude. She explained, “Salamat po talaga Ma’am. X10 po kasi ang charge nyan sa amin.”
Kristine was taken aback by the revelation that the saleslady would have to work for two whole days to cover the cost of a glass worth P85.00.
“Nagulat ako sa X10 na charge. Dalawang araw niyang pagtatrabahuhan ang basong nagkakahalaga ng P85.00. Gaano kalupit ang mga malalaking kapitalista sa mga manggagawa na sa kakarampot na sahod ay pagsasamantalahan pa rin sila sa maliit at minsanang pagkakamali?” Manahan said.
This incident left Kristine questioning the treatment of workers by larger capitalist entities who often exploit them, taking advantage of their meager wages and occasional mistakes.
