Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Cagayan, February 27, 2023
EARTHQUAKE TODAY – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.5 magnitude quake in Cagayan today, Monday, February 27, 2023.
Following the 7.3 magnitude earthquake that jolted a part of Davao Occidental a few weeks ago, another strong quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The quake hit a part of Cagayan. According to the agency, it had a magnitude of 4.5.
The earthquake that struck Cagayan today, Monday, February 27, 2023, at 05:14 a.m. was tectonic in origin. It specifically hit Dalupiri Island in Calayan.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Cagayan was located at 19.07°North, 121.29°East – 009 km South 66° East of Dalupiri Island with a depth of focus of 011 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. The instrumental intensities were recorded in these areas:
- Intensity I
- Gonzaga, Cagayan
- Intensity II
- Penablanca, Cagayan
- Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte
- Intensity III
- Aparri, Cagayan
