Charo Santos returns to teleserye
Award-winning actress Charo Santos revealed the reason why she accepted the role that was offered to her in the Kapamilya primetime series Batang Quiapo.
Charo has done many TV series and movies in the span of her acting career. She is one of the prominent veteran actresses who has become an inspiration for the younger generation of stars.
Her current TV project is the action-drama series Batang Quiapo featuring Coco Martin and Lovi Poe. In a recent interview, based on the article in PUSH, Charo shared the reason why she said yes to this project.
“Aba! Getting a call from Coco Martin when being offered a major role in his next teleserye is such an honor,” she said, adding that working with the actor in Ang Probinsyano was “bitin.”
In the defunct Kapamilya series, they only worked together for seven days only. With this, it was not difficult for Charo Santos to accept the offer. In the new Kapamilya series, she plays the character of Tindeng, the loving grandmother of Tanggol, the character played by Coco.
Her role in the series is far from her glamorous look in her drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya. Charo’s character is a vendor and a fortune-teller in Quiapo.
The veteran actress said that she already played roles that are not glamorous in her past projects. “So kailangan kasi bilang isang artista, observant ka e, hindi ba sa mga karakter na ipo-portray mo, alam mo naman ako, naglalakad rin naman ako dati sa Quiapo noong nag-aaral pa ako at estudyante pa ako, so alam ko ‘yung milyo ng Quiapo at naiintindihan ko ang mga tao,” she said.
As an actress, having this kind of role is something that she treasures. Charo Santos said that with this role, she does not have to fix herself and wear glamorous outfits.
