Will Pres. Bongbong Marcos Prioritize Cha-Cha under his Term?
BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President revealed his stand on Charter Change or Cha-Cha amid several political personalities pushing for it.
The current administration is currently on its first year and a lot of transitions are happening in the government. Several public agencies have a change in their leaderships and there are also reforms being implemented now.
“Unity” has always been the loudest call of Pres. Marcos to the Filipinos. One of the recent times when he reiterated his call for “continued unity” was during first New Year message as the country’s Chief Executive.
Marcos Jr. has visited several nations abroad on his first year as the country’s president. He reported getting investment pledges from the other nations and wants to boost the employment in the country so there will be no need for Pinoys to go and work abroad.
At the start of his administration, one of the key issues in the government was the push by some political personalities for Charter Change or Cha-Cha. Many politicians most especially Senator Robin Padilla wants a change in the constitution in the government.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos revealed his stand on Charter Change or Cha-Cha in the Philippines. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the 65-year-old President told the media on his flight back to Manila following a five-day visit in Japan that a change in the Constitution is not a priority of his administration.
Marcos Jr. cited the “economic provisions” as the possible reason why Cha-Cha is being talked about. He stressed that the Philippines want investments and issues such as the ownership and inappropriation may affect it. However, according to President, Cha-Cha is not a priority of his administration.
“It’s not a priority for me because maraming ibang kailangang gawin eh. Maraming kailangan, there are so many different, there are so many other things that we need to do first,” Marcos Jr. said.
According to the President, he believe that all that are being talked about can be accomplished even without changing the Constitution of the Philippines.
