Bongbong Marcos Reacts When Asked If His Family is Grooming Sandro to be Future President

BONGBONG MARCOS – The President was asked if his family is grooming his eldest son, Ilocos Norte Representative Sandro Marcos, to be future president.

The Marcoses are among the most popular personalities in the Philippine political arena. Their patriarch, the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr., was the country’s president for 20 years. However, in 1986, they were ousted from Malacañang by the historic People Power Revolution.

The Marcoses fled in exile to Hawaii. The late former President went old abroad and died. The remaining family members were allowed to go home to the Philippines and they managed to win several positions in their home province, Ilocos.

Last May 2023, now-President Bongbong Marcos won the presidential race in a landslide victory. His eldest son, Sandro Marcos, also won as Ilocos Norte Representative.

Amid the Marcoses taking hold of several government positions, there are speculations that Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos is looking forward to be president like his father and grandfather in the future. There are also speculations that he is being groomed by his family.

Recently, in a panel interview with some journalists, Pres. Bongbong Marcos was asked if his family is grooming Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos to be a future president. To this, the 65-year-old Chief Executive answered in the negative.

“No. We are not grooming him for anything,” Pres. Marcos said.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the President chuckled and stressed that there is not a long-term plan eyeing Sandro for the presidency in the future. According to him, his eldest son will laugh if he will be told that he is being groomed to be president. He revealed that it was really his son’s decision to join politics.

According to Marcos Jr., Sandro is “grooming himself” and he believes that his son is the same with him who will work as hard as he can and take things as far as he can.
