Julie Anne San Jose talked about her character in ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’
Asia’s Limitless Star Julie Anne San Jose said that her Maria Clara character in the Kapuso series Maria Clara at Ibarra will be more like Klay, the character of Barbie Forteza.
The said Kapuso series is in its last four weeks and the story plot is set to transfer from Noli Me Tangere to El Filibusterismo, where it is based. As Julie Anne’s character Maria Clara will soon enter the convent, this will be the end of the chapter based on Noli Me Tangere.
In an interview, based on the article in GMA Entertainment, Julie Anne said that her character sacrificed a lot in order to save herself, especially when she lost the one she loves.
Through this chapter in Maria Clara’s life, a big transformation will happen. “Under circumstances na hindi niya rin in-expect na mangyayri sa buhay niya, from there pa lang, naubos na siya eh. Ang masasabi ko lang doon sa progress or doon sa arc ngayon ng character ni Maria Clara, parang naging siya na si Klay,” Julie Anne San Jose revealed.
In this transformation, Klay, played by Barbie, is a major influence. Julie Anne said that her character is known for being “mahinhin” and obedient to what is being told to her. “Wala siyang boses. Sa tulong ni Klay, unti unting naa-unfold ‘yung mga iniisip niya. May mga sarili na siyang desisyon sa buhay, may sarili na siyang pagpapasya,” she said.
The actress-singer added that the new version of her character will use her “kahinhinan” as power and slowly, she will change, and will have her own voice. “Mas nagkakaroon siya ng freeedom to express herself even more,” she said.
As the story is leading toward El Filibusterismo, Crisostomo Ibarra, played by Dennis Trillo will return to San Diego with his new identity who is known as Simoun. Meanwhile, Klay will try her best to return to the story to continue to help her favorite characters.
