Gerald Bantag Urges Justice Secretary Boying Remulla to Resign

Gerald Bantag Wants Justice Secretary Boying Remulla to Resign

Suspended Chief of Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Gerald Bantag urges Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Boying Remulla to resign.

After being accused of his alleged involvement in the Percy Lapid Mabasa case, Bantag spoke for the first time. Bantag urged Remulla to quit in an interview because, in his opinion, the public wanted it.

Bantag Remulla Resign

Bantag asserted that Remulla was attempting to influence public opinion in order to paint him as the mastermind behind the plan to silence the radioman, who is a well-known opponent of the general. Bantag urged him to resign in the wake of his son’s illegal drug case.

“Yan ang sabi ng taumbayan, step down Mr. Secretary dahil wala na kayong credibility. Alam ng tao ‘yan kung ano ang ginagawa niyo, kino-condition niyo ang isip ng tao para ituro ako.. Gawain ba ‘yan ng secretary of justice?” he said.

The suspended BuCor chief also brought up Juanito Jose Remulla III’s legal situation, arguing that the Justice Secretary should have resigned long ago given that his son was involved in criminal activity, based on the SMNI News interview.

“Samantalang ang anak mo, ang daming comment ng tao.. As secretary of Justice tapos involve ‘yung anak mo (sa illegal activities) dapat step down ka na e,” he said.

Bantag believed Remulla was merely trying to gain popularity because of his desire to run for the Senate in 2025. Remulla has not yet responded to Bantag’s charges as of this writing. He also gave his perspective during the interview to show that he wasn’t the one who gave the order to silence Lapid.
