Jerry Gracio Reacts to #NasaanAngPangulo of Netizens Amid Typhoon Paeng

Kapamilya writer Jerry Gracio reacts to netizens’ #NasaanAngPangulo trending on Twitter at the height of Typhoon Paeng.

During Paeng’s landfall in several areas of the Philippines, an award-winning writer shared his emotions and ideas about how netizens were looking for President Bongbong Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte. Many people think the president is in Japan or somewhere else.

This is due to the fact that he was only using Zoom when he presided over the typhoon-related emergency meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) and a few other officials. Due to the quantity of reported casualties in the BARMM zone, the president was even dissatisfied in this situation.

As a result, the hashtags “#NasaanAngPangulo” and “Nasa Japan” have been popular on Twitter. Cheloy Garafil, the officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Office of the Press Secretary, denied that the president was there.

In his Facebook post, Gracio stressed that no one is implying that he should have perished in the flood or that he personally dug out others who were buried alive. But expressing empathy for others is just common decency.

 “Di natin sinasabi na lumusong siya sa baha, o siya mismo maghukay sa mga natabunan ng lupa. Pero basic courtesy sa mga tao na damayan mo sila. E, hanggang ngayon, paalis na si Paeng, parating na naman ang bagyong si Queenie, di pa natin alam kung nasaan ang Presidente at Bise Presidente,” Gracio said.

“Tigilan na ninyo ‘yang alter ego naman ng presidente si Tulfo at ang cabinet secretaries. Huwag ninyong i-tolerate ang katamaran ng mga ibinoto ninyo. Singilin ninyo sila. Taena, binabagyo tayo, ni hindi natin alam kung nasaan ang Pangulo at Pangalawang Pangulo? Unless, nasa puso ninyo,” he added.

In a different Facebook post, Gracio questioned PBBM about why he couldn’t simply update his status with his location. The author also pointed out that he merely serves to confirm his father’s assertion that he is lazy by appearing in a scene from the film “Maid in Malacañang” where Marcos Sr. (Cesar Montano) claims that BBM (Diego Loyzaga), who was then a teenager, did nothing except party.

Meanwhile, a restaurant in Laoag, Ilocos Norte posted images of PBBM with his son Vincent Marcos and nephew Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc. At the height of the excitement of netizens who are in Japan or another nation was the president while typhoon Paeng pummeled the Philippines on October 29.
