PAGASA Warns Cagayan and Relative Cities for Tropical Storm Karding
Cagayan are ready for the possible damage as the PAGASA warns for the upcoming tropical cyclone “Karding” will hit their region.
On Saturday, the Cagayan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said that they were prepared for the potential onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Karding (International name: Noru).
Based on the report of GMA News that the DSWD stated that food supplies have been prepositioned in Northern Luzon and that standby and quick reaction funding are available.
“Talagang kami po, nakatutok sa Bagyong Karding. ‘Yung atin pong pondo when it comes to disaster response ay medyo mataas-taas pa naman po, nasa P1M halos pa po ito,” Assistant Secretary Rommel Lopez of DSWD said in interview.
According to Lopez, the DSWD’s stand-by money is P600 million and its quick response fund is close to P500 million. The report also mentioned that, he stated that food packets had been prepared.
According to acting Cagayan PDRRMO chief Ruelie Rapsing, the province of Cagayan has also undertaken its own preparations, particularly with relation to rescue equipment and relief supplies.
Rapsing stated that the PDRRMO will conduct a pre-disaster risk assessment on Saturday to decide where to deploy the rescue workers. He stated that any preemptive evacuation would be up to the regional executives.
According to the most recent track, Karding may have an impact on the southern half of Cagayan, particularly Tuguegarao City and the towns of Peablanca, Enrile, Solana, Piat, and Tuao. He noted that the necessary supplies for the relief effort have already been stocked up in warehouses.
