Mother Dies After Being Hit by Motorcycle While Heading Home From School Drop-OffÂ
A 45-year-old mother who dropped her child at school has lost her life after being struck by a motorcycle while crossing a busy road in Manila.
On Monday morning (June 30, 2026), the woman was already on her way home along Mel Lopez Boulevard in Tondo after she had dropped off her child at school when the accident happened.
Video footage from the area showed her running across the road at a spot that was not designated as a pedestrian crossing. At the same moment, a motorcycle traveling at a fast speed approached the area, leading to a violent collision.
The impact threw the woman several meters away. The accident also affected a few students who were walking in the middle of the road near a barrier. Emergency responders quickly arrived and rushed the injured individuals to the hospital.
Two of those involved received medical treatment and were later allowed to return home. Sadly, the mother suffered severe injuries to her body and head. Despite efforts to save her, she was declared dead after being taken to the hospital.
Police investigators said the woman had just finished bringing her child to school before the accident happened
Authorities also noted that the location where she crossed was not a proper pedestrian lane. The area is situated near a curve in the road, making it difficult for drivers to immediately see people attempting to cross.
Some residents reportedly choose to cross directly on the road although a footbridge is available nearby because it is located farther from the school and requires a longer walk.
The 26-year-old motorcycle rider involved in the crash was arrested and also sustained injuries during the incident. He has not yet given a public statement regarding what happened.Â
