PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Saturday (September 24)

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Tropical Storm Karding will continue to bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Saturday (September 24, 2022), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Storm Karding will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that Tropical Storm Karding has been last spotted at 795 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 105 kph.

The tropical storm is moving west-southwestward at a speed of 15 kph with strong to gale-force winds extending outwards up to 220 km from the center.

Karding will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Northern Samar. The southwest monsoon and Karding will bring similar weather conditions over Visayas, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Mindanao, Metro Manila, and the rest of the country.

PAGASA also raised Tropical Wind Cyclone Signal No. 1 in these areas:

  • Isabela
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Quirino
  • Southern portion of mainland Cagayan
  • Mountain Province
  • Ifugao
  • Aurora
  • Northern and eastern portions of Nueva Ecija

The weather agency has also advised the public to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides during heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

“Under these conditions, scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazard as identified in hazard maps and in localities with significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over seaboards of Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon will have rough to very rough surrounding sea conditions.
