Reyes is one of the establishment’s distinguished visitors. John Eric Antonio, a police lieutenant colonel and the officer in charge of Sto. The Tomas City Philippine National Police (PNP) said that the reason for the raid was an apparent breach of social distance.

Additionally, they discovered that illicit betting occurred in the midst of the match between Reyes and Rasco. The P14,000 in cash that was purportedly bet on by spectators of the game was found by the police.

They made it apparent that they had sent the billiards legend home after speaking with him despite having welcomed him to the precinct. Reyes is alleged to have been unaware that a wager was being made.

Additionally, they argued that it is typical for law enforcement to knock people to the ground and search them in the course of their work. 19 people, including a youngster, have already been accused.

Meanwhile, in an interview, Reyes claimed to have grasped the police’ justification for conducting the raid on the pool hall. In spite of the fact that social distance is tightly enforced, he claims that people—particularly his fans—are insistent on attending and entering the venue to witness.

“Gunun din doon, yung mga tao ayaw papigil. Distance naman yung gusto nila maglayo-layo, ayaw nilang papigil. Lalong dumadami, nagalit yung ano… yung mga pulis,” he said.

“Hindi naman nawawalan talaga ng maraming tao, player nila magaling pa, pumupusta yung mga tao. Kami naman, hindi naman eh, bayad nga ako doon. Papaalam na lang sa munisipyo kung puwede, kung paano makakapaglaro kami kahit maraming tao. Dapat ipaalam ng mga organizer,” said the billiard legend.
