Cop Seeking Help from Fortune Teller to Solve Case Suspended
A cop was suspended after a viral video showing he is asking help from a fortune teller to solve his case in Madhya Pradesh, India.
An Indian police officer who sought the assistance of a “fortune teller” or soothsayer to help him resolve a current case faces suspension. Sub-inspector Ashok Sharma received a suspension order as a result of the report.
This happened after a video of the police asking a religious preacher in the vicinity went viral. When a 17-year-old girl was killed on July 28, a police officer turned to a religious guru named Baba Pandokhar Sarkar Maharaj for heavenly guidance in locating the murderer, based on the report.
Sharma provided the list of “persons of interest” to the sorcerer to aid in locating the suspect. In addition to following the religious preacher’s advice when looking into the matter, the Bamitha police also followed the Baba’s instructions by detaining the slain girl’s uncle.
The Bamitha police detained the slain girl’s uncle, Tirath Ahirwar, claiming that he was suspected of having an unlawful relationship with someone. He choked her to death because he didn’t trust her, then he dumped her body in a well in the Ota Purva village neighborhood near the Bamitha police station.
The local police headquarters has punished the officer for divulging a private document to a citizen since the video went viral. The responsible ASI, A Sharma, as well as the supervisor of the Bamitha police station, Pankaj Sharma, have been suspended by the superintendent of the Chhatarpur district police, Sachin Sharma.
