11-Year-Old Boy Dies Few Weeks After Circumcision Due to Tetanus
An 11-year-old boy passed away due to tetanus a few after his circumcision at a health center in Lupon, Davao Oriental.
A frustrated dad identified as Armando Ilisan has expressed his disappointment and fury to the municipal health center employees who circumcised his son named Lear John Ilisan. The young boy passed away three weeks after the circumcision.
Lear John underwent a circumcision last July 8, 2022, but experienced an illness two days after the operation. Unfortunately, the innocent boy even suffered lockjaw after a few days. The kid passed away last July 27.
Pero naano niya yung tetanus lalong lumala,” Armando said.
However, the rural midwife who performed the operation identified as Angelina Uyanguren denied that she commit a mistake during the circumcision. She explained that there was nothing wrong with the boy’s manhood.
The victim’s cause of death was respiratory failure due to generalized tetanus based on his death certificate. The Department of Health will continue to investigate the incident.
