Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Tests Positive for COVID-19

Former Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Positive for COVID-19

GLORIA MACAPAGAL ARROYO – The former President and now Pampanga Second District Representative tested positive for COVID-19.

Currently, the whole Philippines remain under restrictions as the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet over. In fact, a few weeks after the Elections 2022, the daily cases of COVID-19 have increased and it raised the possibility of the implementation of stricter measures if the hospitalization rate will increase.

Most areas in the country now including Metro Manila are under Alert Level 1, the loosest quarantine measure. The health authorities continue to remind the public to observe the minimum proper health protocols like the wearing of face masks when going outdoors and the practice of proper hygiene.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recently reminded countries that the pandemic is “nowhere near over” amid nations loosening their quarantine measures. The international health body expects the COVID-19 cases in European countries to increase in summer amid the loose quarantine measures.

In PH, one of the high-profile politicians who recently tested positive for COVID-19 is former president and now Pampanga Second District Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, it was confirmed by the former President’s chief of staff, Erwin Krishna Santos.

According to Santos, it was last July 15 when former Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo tested positive for COVID-19 in an antigen test. She immediately went under self-quarantine and is being monitored by her personal physician.

Based on the report, due to testing positive for COVID-19, Arroyo will not be able to attend the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. She is one of those politicians who supported Marcos Jr. during the election campaign. The 64-year-old President also sought for the former President’s guidance as he leads the nation.
