Pres. Bongbong Marcos Decides on COVID-19 Alert Level System in PH

BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President who just recovered from COVID-19 made a decision on the alert level system in the Philippines.

The COVID-19 pandemic is “nowhere near over” as the World Health Organization (WHO) has recently described. Amid the easing of restrictions, the international body previously warned countries that the pandemic is not over anywhere if it is not over somewhere.

In the Philippines, the whole country remains under community quarantine measures through the alert level system. Most areas in the nation including Metro Manila is under Alert Level 1, the loosest quarantine measure.

Recently, the Department of Health (DOH) noted an increase in the daily recorded COVID-19 cases in the country a few weeks after the Elections 2022. President Bongbong Marcos is one of those who contracted the disease.

It was just last June 30 when Marcos Jr. assumed office. His oath-taking was held at the Philippine National Museum. The First Family decided to stay in Bahay Pangarap during the term of the president.

A few days after he assumed office, Malacañang confirmed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos Jr. tested positive for COVID-19. As per the protocol for vaccinated individuals, the 64-year-old Chief Executive underwent a 7-day isolation and medication. His symptoms vanished fast and he was able to recover fast unlike his first bout against the disease during the early months of the pandemic.

Last July 15, the alert levels implemented in the different areas in the country have come to their expiry. The authorities announced their extension while awaiting the decision from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos decided on the fate of the alert level system in the Philippines. Based on Inquirer, the President agreed to retain the alert level system in the country. He also wants to reclassify the restrictions that match the current milder strains of the virus.
