And for this year, the 10 official candidates running for the presidency are:
- Ernesto Abella, former presidential spokesman
- Leody de Guzman, labor leader
- Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso
- Norberto Gonzales, former defense chief
- Senator Ping Lacson
- Faisal Mangondato
- Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., former senator
- Jose Montemayor Jr.
- Senator Manny Pacquiao
- Vice President Leni Robredo
Robredo is the lone female candidate on the list and if she wins, she will be the third female president this country will have. In the latest Pulse Asia survey, Marcos Jr. sustained his lead with a large difference from the percentage of the candidate in the second spot, Robredo.
And just recently, on the day of the election, the Commission on Elections reminded the voters that vaccine cards, negative COVID-19 results, and the wearing of a face shield, are not required for a person to be able to vote. However, a face mask remains a must according to a report from ABS-CBN News.
Those who are infected are allowed to vote in their regular precinct. Cellphones are also not prohibited but what’s strictly prohibited is taking a photo of your ballot.
