Isko Moreno’s Personal Background
Born on October 24, 1974, Mayor Isko Moreno’s real name is Francisco Moreno Domagoso. He is the only child of the late Rosario Moreno from Allen, Northern Samar and Joaquin Domagoso from Antique province. His father worked as a stevedore and it is no secret to the public that he came from a poor family.
At the age of 10, Mayor Isko was already finding means to earn money. He pushes a cart and goes house-to-house for old newspapers and used bottles. He sells them to a local junk dealer and he also collects leftover food from restaurants. His mother would cook it again and they will eat it. Mayor Isko Moreno’s age now is 46 years old.
Isko Moreno’s Showbiz Career
In 1993, Moreno was spotted by talent scout Wowie Roxas and he encouraged him to join showbiz. He was one of the casts of That’s Entertainment and he had his first biggest break when he was cast in May Minamahal. He also became the leading man of actress Claudine Barretto in Muntik Na Kitang Minahal.
Moreno was part of several projects including the movie Siya’y Nagdadalaga and the TV series Mga Anghel na Walang Langit, Bakekang, and Ligaw na Bulaklak.
Isko Moreno’s Political Career
In 1998, the political career of Isko Moreno started after he won as councilor in the first congressional district of Manila. He was re-elected in 2001 and 2004 and he ran for vice mayor after his third term as a councilor. He won the vice mayoralty race. He finished his term and was re-elected in 2013.
In 2016, Moreno ran for a seat in the Senate but failed in the bid. Three (3) years after, he ran for mayor in Manila City and won. He is undeniably one of those politicians and mayors that are greatly admired by people with his leadership.
